Inexpensive replacement of pulse pattern generators

Expensive pulse pattern generators for short pulse applications can in many cases be replaced by the EPG models at a fraction of the cost. The electric pulse generators in the EPG series produce extremely short pulses of up to 22 ps for directly or externally modulated lasers.

The pulse width is freely selectable. Repetition rates can be set from a single pulse up to 10 GHz with very low temporal jitter.

In modulator mode, optical pulse lengths of approx. 30 ps can be generated due to the high slew rate of 10 ps. Direct modulation by gain switching results in optical pulse widths of 30 to 60 ps, which can be compressed even further externally.
