Vibrometer-based strain-monitoring for high-cycle fatigue

Accelerated fatigue testing is a challenging application, but a necessary one with the advent of new alloys and composite materials. The industry is slowly but surely moving towards very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) testing to ensure long-term durability and reliability. VHCF defines testing at ~ 10^9 cycles, which if done at the conventional low frequencies, would take an inordinate amount of time. So the solution is to use higher frequencies, say 20 kHz, however at these frequencies, the traditional strain sensors don’t work, or don’t work as well. We introduce a laser Doppler vibrometer based strain sensor that will work at 20 kHz and beyond. How does it work? What are the components? That’s the topic of this webinar. Join us to learn more!
