Introduction to vibrometry for electronic applications

Learn how laser vibrometers are used to optimize the design of automotive touchscreens, study ultrasonic vibrations for reproducing the sensation of surface texture, and perfect vibrotactile feedback in robot-assisted surgery. We reveal how vibrometers help optimize haptic feedback actuator locations for efficient energy transfer from the device to the user, and avoid modal coupling or unwanted acoustic distortions. Various types of haptic actuators are studied with laser vibrometry, either separately or mounted for example inside watches, gloves, suits, flexible wearables and other VR accessories.
