Biological and biologically inspired engineering with laser vibrometry

11:00 AM PST

Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV) is widely used by scientists to explore complex micromechanical behavior seen in nature that has taken millions of years to evolve. We present examples of the impact that LDV has had on hearing research, the development of biologically-inspired microrobots, the durability and performance of ultrasonic medical devices, the optimization of haptic feedback in consumer electronics and other applications.
