The Small Scanning Solution
The VIB-A-600 represents a comprehensive test station for acquiring 1-D and 3-D oper-ational deflection shapes (ODS) on small structures such as data storage drives, electronic components or actuators. Powered with the performance of either the OFV-534 Compact Sensor Head or the CLV-3D Sensor Head and the VibSoft Data Acquistion Systems, you have an easy to operate solution for various vibration measurement tasks. It provides simple and repeatable positioning of the laser under live video control on the x,y and z axes, and quick measurements and clear results. Post processing, for example in modal analysis packages, is done quickly by automatically creating a single data set containing both vibration data and geometry information.

Simple Operation and Modular Concept
Providing deflection shapes of small samples is the main task of the new Polytec ODS Extension. It expands the usability of the powerful non-contact Laser-Doppler Vibrometer system transferring the single-point measurement capabilities into higher dimensions. Sensing vibrations without contact means keeping the test object unaltered during the measurement. This is essential especially for small delicate parts. The easy operation and the Universal File Format (UFF) make it a universal tool for vibrational analysis.
Hardware: Robust and Approved The platform is based on precision x-y-z motorized linear stages with 200 mm x 200 mm x 50 mm ranges in the respective directions. The repeatability of 0.01 mm matches the precise laser focus of the OFV-534 Sensor Head. Both versions for 1-D sensors and for 3-D use an internal or exter-nal camera to give a clear view of the sample for convenient point definition. The stage assembly is designed for table-top operation and is equipped with mounting brackets for standard optical tables.
Software: Modular and Intuitive The StageControl Software provides simple, interactive definition of the measurement points by teaching or coordinate input, and thus facilitates a quick measurement of the operational deflection shapes (ODS) of the sample. A live video display of the test object facilitates localizing the measurement points, even on small objects. The image can be flipped, copied to the clipboard or saved in the usual graphics formats. The Scanner Control Software works jointly with the VibSoft Data Acquisition Software. Vib-Soft – a comprehensive data acquisition system – is available in various models to meet your needs. Together, these software packages provide a dataset of the measurement, including geometry data in universal file format (UFF). Thus, the operational deflection shapes can be imported into ME’scope software or other suitable programs for modal analysis.
Building Your system
THe VIB-A-600 Polytec ODS Extension is suitable for the following measurement systems:
Vibrometer for 3-D measurement • CLV-3D Laser Vibrometer with 140 mm or 300 mm working distance. In this configuration the system is shipped with an high resolution digital video camera and special tilt optics
