The optimum test and measurement solution starts with a close working relationship between the PNA design team and the customer. Of primary importance is the documentation of specific design requirements that follow from a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s specific measurement needs including sensor environment, acoustic bandwidth and resolution, type of part or process being monitored and desired output response. From the design requirements a development plan is written, approved and implemented.
In many cases the development plan may be simple and straight forward: select appropriate off-the-shelf sensors, stimulation techniques and standard signal processing algorithms, integrate, test and install. For more difficult or novel measurement tasks, the selection of the sensor, stimulation technique and software may involve substantial engineering and prototype testing. All development plans require a critical design review with the customer.

Following successful completion of the design review, construction begins. The on-schedule installation and acceptance testing of the completed measurement system at the client’s facility is the culmination of the development program and the beginning of a long term relationship.
